Florence Speedway is looking to fill a few staff positions for the 2026 season. For now, there are 3 primary positions we are looking to fill.
- As many of you know, our announcer, Carl Cruse, has decided to hang up the mic, so we are looking for a new announcer for 2026.
- We are looking at using one or possibly two announcers for race events. Ideally, we’d have a two announcer system with one announcer based in the tower, and the second being mobile to do interviews, fan interactions, social media posts and similar activities. While the idea would be to have different responsibilities for each announcer, both would likely need to be able to handle either job at different times.
- While some racing background is expected, being an experienced racing announcer is not required. While we are a race track, we are primarily in the entertainment business. Keeping the crowd informed and entertained is the main function of this position.
- We do expect anyone applying to have some technological proficiency. You will be expected to pre-record sponsor reels and other announcements and play them back during events.
- We are asking those interested please either message us through Facebook, or email jking@florencespeedway.com. In your message, please include answers to the following questions.
- What announcing experience do you have? (Race tracks, sports teams, radio, online broadcasts?)
- What is your background in racing?
- What, if any, connection do you have to Florence Speedway?
- What do you consider your announcing style and which of the roles(tower based or mobile) would you say fits you better?
- Are there any examples of your work online? Please include links if possible.
- Do you have access to laptop to record and playback audio? Are you comfortable using a laptop to record audio, play music, and enhance your role as an announcer?
- Our schedule is posted at florencespeedway.com. Take a look and see if there are any known conflicts with anything that would make you miss any events. If you have a regular job that you occasionally have to work Saturdays, or have a personal situation that could potentially cause you to miss races, please include that.
- How far from the track do you live?
- Our announcer booth is located at the top of the grandstands and requires climbing stairs, potentially multiple times a night, to get to the booth and do victory lane interviews. Do you have anything that would make that difficult for you to do?
- What kind of pay would you expect if you got the position?
- We are looking for a backup hand scorer for our 2026 races.
- Hand scoring involves writing down the numbers of cars as they pass the start/finish line. While we primarily use electronic scoring, we do also hand score as a backup in case there are problems with the electronic system. While we’d prefer someone with hand scoring experience, this is not a position that requires much training to get started.
- We are asking those interested please either message us through Facebook, or email jking@florencespeedway.com. In your message, please include answers to the following questions.
- Do you have any experience hand scoring races? If so please list.
- If you do not, are you able to write quickly and clearly while watching the start/finish line? This is a rapid paced position and race nights can last a few hours. While there are breaks in between races and cautions, there are times that you will need to write for long stretches.

- We are looking for someone to do PR/Social Media for the 2026 season.
- We are looking for someone to write/post press releases and do social media interactions, both during the week and on race days, Ideally, this position would also be the second announcer listed above who would be roaming through the facility on race nights, doing interviews, contests, and other social media content.
- Anyone applying should be comfortable writing short press releases, working with html/wordpress, and posting on the major social media platforms. You’ll be expected to make posts, answer customer questions, interact with customers and sponsors, do contests, and make engaging content. We expect that most of this should be able to be done in less than a few hours each week, as most content can be done at your convenience and scheduled for posting at optimal times.
- Some racing background is required. Ability to be at races and do in person content creation will also likely be needed. This may include recording video to edit for content creation during the week.
- We are asking those interested please either message us through Facebook, or email jking@florencespeedway.com. In your message, please include answers to the following questions.
- What background do you have doing Public Relations/Social Media content. Please link examples.
- Can you write a press release without using AI?
- Are you comfortable interacting, both online and in person, with customers and sponsors? Are you able to come up with and organize contests to engage with customers?
- Do you have access to a smart phone and laptop in order to do the posting and content creation needed for this position?
- Are you interested in the roving announcer position above? Are you comfortable talking on the microphone in front of thousands of people?

- Race day activities may involve a lot of walking and stair climbing. Do you have anything that would make that difficult for you to do?

So that there is not any confusion, these are, primarily, race day positions and not to be considered full time jobs.
