Traffic advisory

This Summer, US 42 will be undergoing a major repaving project in Florence From Mall Road, past I-75/71 to Industrial Road. For most of the Summer, this will have US 42 down to one lane in that area and will cause significant traffic backups. It is highly advised that anyone who would normally take that route should instead take I-75/71 to the Richwood exit(175). Turn right on 338(Left if you are coming from the South). Follow 338 approximately 5 miles to US 42. Turn left on US 42 and follow that to the track. For other routes you can take, depending on which direction you are coming from, click HERE.

New sponsor here at Florence Speedway

We would like to welcome a new sponsor as Quaker Steak and Lube of Florence has come on board here at Florence Speedway. They have steaks, ribs, burgers, salads and of course the BEST wings in the USA. Quaker Steak & Lube is located in Florence below the Florence Y'all Water Tower. Make sure to stop by on your way to the races or any time during the week and make sure to thank them for supporting Florence Speedway and auto racing.

UMP Summernationals TUESDAY

Don't forget that this TUESDAY we will be racing as the UMP Summernationals returns to Florence Speedway. The UMP Summernationals, known as the Hell Tour, is a month long tour that travels to tracks across the midwest during the Summer. Last year Scott Bloomquist won our annual Summernationals race followed by Shannon Babb and NASCAR's Austin Dillon. Not willing to settle for that third place finish, Austin is returning this year to try to get his first win here at Florence Speedway. Austin will also be having a pre-race Autograph session for the fans. He will be signing autographs from 5:30 to 6 at our main concession area.

For more info on the event such as prices and times, check the sidebar to the right.

Florence Speedway gains UMP Sanctioning for 2014

We are pleased to announce that in 2014 our Modified, Pure Stock, and Hornet divisions will be UMP sanctioned and will be competing for UMP points. The UMP organization is a national sanctioning body that combines tracks from across the country and allows the drivers to compete for national points and points funds. The rules for the divisions will be largely unchanged. This includes the modified tire rule which will still only allow the Hoosier A and H compounds. Drivers do not need to be UMP members to race, but to be eligible for UMP points, a driver must be a UMP member.

Concession staff needed

We are currently looking for additional staff for our concession stands for parts of the 2014 season. Anyone interested should contact Jennifer Davies at (859) 462-6343.

Major changes to the 32nd Annual Sunoco North/South 100

2014 will see a major format change to the 32nd Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil. After growing the North/South to be one of the biggest events in the country, Florence Speedway officials have decided to move to a fan friendly format that will make the race a truly unique event. At the 2014 North/South 100, we will be eliminating qualifying and moving to a random draw/passing points system to line up the weekend's races. After using the passing points system weekly and for mid-sized races for many years successfully, we feel that now is the perfect time to use this format at our biggest event. How the event will work is, after drawing a number to determine starting order, drivers will compete in two sets of heat races on Friday. Their finishing order, combined with bonus points for passing cars, will be used to line up Saturday's 3 B Mains and Feature. Also on Saturday, we will be adding three new races to the event. We will be adding two dashes to determine the North/South 100's pole sitter and outside pole sitter. We will also be adding a 30 lap $2,500 Non-Qualifiers race for those who do not transfer to the feature. It is a win-win for the fans as they get to see two complete sets of heats on Friday, while keeping the same amount of racing laps on Saturday. The drivers benefit as well as almost $12,000 has been added to the weekend purse. These changes, plus earlier start times on Saturday, should also help alleviate some of the issues with late finishes that have affected this event in the past. To see complete event info, including the format, times, and purses, check out the North/South 100 info page HERE.

Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge Returns!

We at Florence Speedway are excited to announce that the Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race challenge is returning for the 2014 season. We and Sunoco Race Fuels have teamed up for a program to reward drivers who race here weekly. The Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge will reward drivers who run well in their heat races and run Sunoco Race Fuel products. The twist to this program is that where, in most cases, drivers in different divisions can't compete against each other, in the Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge, the eligible drivers will be competing against each other! That's right, the Late Models, Modifieds, Crates and Pure Stocks are all competing for the same prize. At the end of the season, the top point earner will gain a $500 prize from Sunoco, and everyone in the top 10 will receive cash awards. For more details check out the program info page at http://www.florencespeedway.com/sunococontingency.html

The Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge begins April 5th.

We would also like to let everyone know that, due to many requests, we will be switching to selling Sunoco Supreme 112 octane gasoline at the track on a weekly basis. We will no longer be carrying the 110 octane standard fuel. In addition to gasoline, we will also continue to sell Methanol at the track.

For the new crate division, we will be carrying the Sunoco 260 GT Plus 105 Octane Unleaded Fuel. This is a race ready fuel that is geared towards the needs of crate engines.

We also have access to drums of the Sunoco HCR Plus 114 Octane racing gas. If anyone is interested in purchasing a drum, just ask at our fuel sales area.

Purchase of any of the above qualifies you for the Sunoco Heat Race challenge bonuses.
