• 7/22/08 - We are rapidly approaching our biggest race of the year as the start of the 26th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil weekend is two weeks away! On August 7th-9th the eyes of the racing world turn to Florence Speedway as we host one of the Crown Jewels of the Dirt Late Model season. This has become one the top races in the country as the biggest names in the sport come to compete to be the North/South 100 champion. This year, Sunoco Race Fuels has come on board, along with Lucas Oil Products, to join Florence Speedway in presenting the $50,000 top prize and impressive $2,500 to start. Anticipation for this event is always high, and this year is no exception. Advance ticket sales are well ahead of last years record pace and reserved seats are going quick with some sections being sold out already. Remember, rows 11 and up in all grandstand sections on both the front and backstretches are reserved for this race. The open seating sections(rows 1-10) fill up quickly, so the the only way to guarantee yourself a seat for this race is to purchase your seats in advance. As an extra incentive to get you to purchase your tickets early, advance two day passes are available at a discounted price till July 31st. After that date, including the day of the race, tickets and seats will be available at full price. There has been some new information released recently concerning travel to the track and information for vendors, so it is recommended that you check the North/South 100 Info page. • 5/22/08 - We are pleased to announce that US Playing cards in conjunction with Bigg's have come together to present US Playing cards/Bigg's Night at the Races on July 26th. On this night, employees of both companies will be on hand for a night of racing and to promote US Playing Cards' new "Take the Train" card game. There will be displays and giveaways throughout the night to feature the new game. More details will be available as the date approaches.

• 5/16/08 - After further review of the events and circumstances of the fight at the end of the Pure Stock feature on May 3rd, there has been a change in which drivers receive suspensions. The initial suspensions were based on information that was found to be false concerning who was involved and who they were associated with. We feel it is better to change the suspensions now to reflect the new information than unfairly punish those not involved. The drivers now suspended are Brian Litchfield, David Alan Mefford and Patty Hayes. The suspensions are for the next two pure stock races and applies to the drivers, crews, and their cars. Fighting, for any reason, is greatly discouraged at Florence Speedway and we will do whatever necessary to prevent such events from occurring again. We apologize for the previous incorrect announcement.

• 5/14/08 - After reviewing the events and circumstances of the fight at the end of the Pure Stock feature on May 3rd, a number of suspensions have been handed down. Due to the actions of either themselves, their crews, or family members, four drivers will be receiving two week suspensions. The drivers suspended are Brian Litchfield, Lonnie Mefford, David Alan Mefford and Matt Wheeler. The suspensions are for the next two pure stock races and applies to the drivers, crews, and their cars. Fighting, for any reason, is greatly discouraged at Florence Speedway and we will do whatever necessary to prevent such events from occurring again.

• 4/22/08 - We now have more selections of merchandise in stock. Newly available are multiple styles of Florence Speedway branded hats. There are now both fitted and adjustable styles available for purchase. Also, in addition to the regularly stocked sizes and styles of the 2008 Champions T-Shirt, we have ordered in three sizes of Kid's sized shirts. Finally, for those who were unable to attend the event, we have some leftover shirts from this year's 32nd Annual Spring 50 available. Supplies are limited, so you will want to make sure you make your purchase soon. All merchandise is available at both florencespeedway.com and at the track souvenir booth located at the base of the scoring tower on the frontstretch. • 4/12/08 - Due to the rains already received and with more rain and cold temperatures forecasted, tonight's races have been cancelled. We will be back next week with a $2,000 to win special for the Late Models plus regular shows for the Modified, Super Dirt Stock, and Pure Stock divisions.

• 3/19/08 - Due to the torrential rains already received and with more rain forecasted for later this week, this Saturday's Spring 50 at Florence Speedway has been cancelled. The sheer volume of water that has fallen in the area over the past couple days, combined with the effects of the recent blizzard, has left the grounds saturated to the point that it would be nearly impossible to attempt a race on Saturday. The Spring 50 will now be rescheduled for April 5th and will feature a $5000 to win program for Late Models and a $600 to win program for Modifieds. The first points race of the 2008 season will now be pushed back to Saturday, April 12th. At this time, we still plan to run the open practice session on Saturday March 29th as scheduled.

• 3/10/08 - Added the Florence Speedway logo stickers to the Merchandise page.

• 3/8/08 - Today I posted some pics of the track from the aftermath of the Blizzard of 08. It definitely is a different view of the track. You can see the pics on the Pictures page.

• 3/6/08 - As you probably noticed, there have been a few changes to the site recently. First was the aforementioned email mailing list. If you haven't joined already, you will want to as it will become an invaluable resource once its fully operational. Also, new on the site are a Merchandise page, a page for the posting and archiving of Results, and this News page which will be used for posting any and all news, press releases, and general site updates. Check back on the Merchandise page once we get into the season as we plan on adding a variety of Florence Speedway items and clothing. As you navigate through the site, if you find pages or links that are broken or out of date, please email me at jking@florencespeedway.com as this update required editing every page on the site and a few errors might have snuck through.

• 3/3/08 - We now have a new email mailing list. This list is planned to be used for press releases, results, upcoming race info, website updates, and other general track info. To join, enter your email address in the box at the top of the main page.

• 3/3/08 - As a reminder, those wanting to take minors in the pit area will need to fill out a minor release form. A new one has to be filled out each season. To speed things up at the track and to save yourself and everyone in line behind you at the pit gate, it is recommended that you fill out the form in advance. You can get a copy of this form by clicking on the link to the Rules page above.

• 3/3/08 - Also available on the Rules page is the tax form for drivers and/or car owners. A new form must be filled out every year. While this is typically not an issue, we do reserve the right to withhold prize monies from competitors without a current tax form on file.

• 1/20/08 - The 2008 Rules have been posted.

• 1/11/08 - The 2008 Florence Speedway Schedule has been released.

• 11/20/07 - The 2008 Florence Speedway shirts are here and are now available for purchase. These shirts make great Christmas gifts for family, friends or even yourself. We have both regular and long sleeve T's available. Shirts start at $15 for regular T's, with a small up-charge for XXL-XXXL and long sleeve T's. To purchase shirts, call the track office at (859) 493-0034. We do accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cards.

• 11/20/07 - Going on sale Friday are the 2008 Season passes. Season Passes are good for all racing events during the 2008 season. Both General Admission and Pit Season passes are available. GA passes are $200 and Pit passes are $450. Only a limited number of passes are sold each year and typically they sell out around New Year's, so order early if you want to be sure to get one. Also available, are the Turn 2 fence parking passes. These passes reserve a specific parking spot for the entire season. The price for one of these passes is $100, or $75 if purchased with a season admission pass. To purchase either of these passes, call the track office at (859)493-0034.

• 11/20/07 - Also, don't forget that tickets and reserved seats for the 26th Annual North/South 100 go on sale January 2nd, 2008. Ticket prices will remain the same as in 2007 with advance prices for 2 day passes being $40 for General Admission and $55 for Pit Passes. The 26th Annual North/South 100 will be on August 7th-9th, 2008.
